Home Sweet Home

We left Amarillo about 6:00am 12/27 heading to meet my fam in Ruidoso! Mike, my Dad's Best Friend since college, the man who married us and the Judge who helped me our a few times in college, lives there and found us a house! Mike's neighbor has a house across the street and is never there so we took over. Never seeing the place before and our Culwell pessimism, we were all skeptical... But to our surprise it was a nice, clean 3 bedroom house! It had a fabulous 70's decor including a red-orange shag carpet! We were the last ones there so we got the crappy air mattress :( but it was ok, because these were the views form the front of the house!

The Line's house is right past the big rock. There were about 20 deer that just "hung out" in the yard! One dear got a chain link fence stuck on his antlers, but managed to get free somehow later.


We had planned to ski and snowboard the first full day there. Kevin and I were going to learn to snowboard!! So we got the boards, boots and wrist guards. Then I got sicker and Jared said I "shouldn't" not "couldn't" go. :( I was very sad but was having a hard time breathing in town and agreed that it would be harder to breath on the mountain. So I got pictures. The first one made me sad... then the second one made me GLAD I DIDN'T GO! The management at Ski Apache started drug testing and lost 80% of their staff!!! There was one of the 15 ticket windows open and the top half of the mountain was close, not because lack of snow, but because lack of workers to run the lifts!!! In 6 hours they did 4 runs!!!

Their report was "Good Snow, But Redonkulously Crowded"

Mom and I stayed in town and ate at the "wild herb." The health food store that's vegan food, glutton free stuff and vitamins. Gayle and I could easily be sucked into that "herbal- holistic" stuff... The Food was SO GOOD! We even took the boys there the next day and they liked it too! Who knew!

The next day Dad, Mom and Lauren went for a hike and wouldn't take me because afraid of the asthma, BUT Jared and Dad felt bad for me and took me later in the day!

We used to go to Lake Bonita in Ruidoso for our birthday! Dad and Mike would take Lauren and her friend Meghan and Me and my friend Jenay and we would "camp." I use camping loosely because the first time we went we spent one night in the tents and it got below zero so we went to Mike's house. The next year Dad got really sick so Mike had to entertain 4 teenage girls! My Dad and Mike are big adventurers and if there isn't a good story about a place... they'll make one up! The coolest place we found was an old 2 story wooden house next to a mine. We found it and the house had burned down and they filled in the entrance to the mine :(

We had fun with the Line's we played lots of Mexician Dominoes and showed the Line's the SNL video's "I Ran So Far Away" and D*%k in a Box" They Loved it!

Then the plans started to change from all staying through New Years to Leaving the 29th.... Lots of pictures, lots of Internet and Nintendo time... and LOTS of EATING!!!!! We went to Casa Blanca (of course) and had Friend hatch green chilies!!! AMAZING!!!!!!

So, now we are home (i slept most of the way) and getting ready to go to the Henderson's House for NYE!
