Mimi

Wednesday- Dad called early this morning and my Mimi died about 3am. Mom said she was ready to go and kept asking "how long?" Mom and Jodie said they could hear the fluid on her lungs and she was struggling to breath. She was unable to eat, sleep or get comfortable, was tired, and ready to go to heaven. I know Mom and Jodie are sad, but they are doing better than I expected. They know she had a good life. At 92, she has outlived most of her friends. Mimi had been sick for the last 10 years. I will miss my Mimi very much. LC and I joke about "because Gayle is our Mother" but she was a protege of Mimi aka... Esma. Mimi was a 3rd grade teacher for many many years and had her masters degree when many other women did not. She has exquisite taste and loved the "finer things" but being a teacher and Grandaddy working for Ford, money didn't grow on trees, but you would never know it. Mimi was in a league of her own and could hold her own around anyone at anytime. Please pray for my Mom and Jodie. The viewing is tonight at we are having graveside services Friday morning. My dad is doing the service, "The Pastor of Disaster." We are not close to my maternal extended family, but it will be nice to see them again.

My favorite Mimi memories are watching her drive and listening to her Big Band cassette tape as she put on her white leather "driving gloves." She told us a leather steering wheel is too hot to touch and its important to protect your hands!

She called pooping a "Big Job" If someone was cranky she would say "Does someone need to go sit on the potty and do a big job?"

She made the best Fig Preserves from her neighbor Mata's Fig Tree.

She always had Dad a chocolate Pie with Perfect merange.

She loved for us to play the piano, but we were never interested.

Breakfast at Mimi and Granddaddy's was ALWAYS eggs and bacon!

If you cant sleep have some warm milk (I have modified it to cold milk)

She invented the Phrase "If you spend a little more, it will last a little longer"

The love we have for North Park, began with her.

Maddie, I'm so sorry to hear about this. It sounds like your Mimi is a hoot! I love all of those memories you put up there! I can tell where you got your love of life from! I'm praying for your family during this time.
