Tom Petty and the Hospital

Wednesday night (es a school night, we're rebels) we went to see Tom Petty with Chris and Caroline! It was SO FUN! I didn't think I knew many songs, but there were only 2 that I didn't know!!! The opener, Steve Wynwood (?) I didn't know but my brother said EVERYONE knew him, "Duh Maddie! Traffic???" Excuse me?? Traffic? Never heard of them and how have you your 22! But both acts were fabulous. I wore Lauren's maternity citizen jeans which make me abhor my body a little less and instead of beer I got a salty pretzel and a Diet Dr Pepper! Jared wasn't thrilled about the aspartame and caffeine but it was my treat for staying up late! I wasn't as tired as I expected at work on Thursday.

I left school at 4:30 and met Lauren at the outlet mall in Allen. Got me some "regular" clothes that surprisingly fit my soccer ball belly and the CUTEST baby outfits for Pow at Tommy Kids! I called Jared on the way home and told him my Mom told me she was making tortilla soup and wanted me to go play with her and he said GREAT! its fantasy Football draft night and I will not be playing with you so go! I was on 75 almost to Bush not moving when BAM!!! and BAM!!! A car flew into the back of my expedition and I hit the little car in front of me. I FREAKED!!! I had never been in a wreck before! I found my cell phone on the floor board and hysterically called Jared, luckily he was home and less than 5 minutes away,. I didn't think my belly hit anything but I had marks on my arm and shoulder from the seat belt and maybe steering wheel. I never even heard his tires screech. I don;t think he was paying attention and notice traffic was at a stop. We all sat in our cars on the phone and the guy that hit me said OH MY GOSH YOUR PREGNANT???? My wife is 8 months she is REALLY going to kill me now! Since his car was totaled and towed off she came to get him and was very nice to me. We got the incident report info from the police and I told Jared I was fine, and could I still go play at my Moms? He said yes only if I called my doctor to tell them what happened. As I pulled into my Moms house the Dr called me back and said I needed to go to the hospital and she was calling to let them know I was on the way. Pow had been kicking since the accident so I knew she was still moving and I felt fine, so I didn't want to go but Mom drove me. I felt bad b/c Jared had been looking forward to his FF draft all week so I told him to wait and meet us later, but he came anyway. Mom went on and on about how she hope we wouldn't have to wait 2 hours and we walked in to the er and crickets.... empty! I think we might have been the first ER patients in that hospital since it opened 2 years ago! They checked me out and said ok we are sending you up to labor and delivery. WHAT????? I am 24 weeks?????? They said not to deliver just to check the baby now. Whew! I had a room bigger than my living room with a flat screen and the worlds most uncomfortable bed. The fetal monitors were less than comfortable too. It was cool to hear the heart beat for so long but every time I would start to doze she would move and it made a big THUMP or SCRATCH on the monitor. I am gald my Mom was there too. She got to see the sonogram but it wasn't looking at the "fun stuff" as JAred calls it so we coudlnt tell what we were looking at, just placenta. After a while Mom had a chair pulled up tot he bed with her feet on my bed and a blanket and Jared reclined in the other chair started snoring hahaha.. I am SO GLAD I had both of them there. It was very comforting. I hadn't eaten since lunch and they said I couldn't eat till blood work came back. Then the nurse said that was going to take at least 2 hours and she brought us nasty sandwiches. Jared found nutter butter cookies and chocolate milk somewhere and that saved me! At 9 they said they would watch the baby's heartbeat and contractions for 4 hours. Then after 11 they said the blood work would take 4 more hours and we could just spend the night. I said Thanks, but I want to go home! The nice nurse said ok, she would let me go as soon and the blood work came back. She came in a little after 3 with discharge papers!!! It was a LONG night! I called in a sub but poor Jared had a meeting and had to go to work at regular time. MY aunt Jodie called this afternoon 12:30 (when the sleeping pill wore off) and she heard my Mom's message about the wreck and hospital and she brought me a grilled cheese and hung out for a while.

I have pictures of my car and the other cars, but they show the license plates... The "Jared Voice" in my head says probably shouldn't post those to the world...
