Eat to Live

I am on Day 3 of the "Eat to Live" Diet. It started with my friend Delynn. She is UBER HEALTHY and after a year of eating lunch with her I never knew she was a vegan, just healthy. She told me about these books "How to Disease Proof your child" and "Eat to live" by Dr. Joel Furman. VERY INTERESTING. I am so intrigued with his claims. He basically says eating vegan (most of the time- chicken and dairy once a week) can have massive impacts on ADHD, asthma and allergies plus a number of other aliments. I know you can't believe everything you read just like "everything on the Internet is true" right? haha. But he has some pretty powerful research to back his claims up. In addition to the health benefits there is WEIGH LOSS!!! So I am eating vegan for 6 weeks and then adding chicken and dairy once a week. Jared and Lauren have been ruthless in their reticule. Mom says they are jealous because I am going to be skinny. But it hasn't been hard!! Delynn showed me that there are healthy foods at restaurants you just have to order them. Crazy idea huh...

I am currently 3 pounds less than "Wedding weight" and 55 lbs down from my last pregnant doctors appointment. Considering I gained less than 30 lbs I should look different already! When will this belly go away???????????? SO I will keep you updated on the diet. Jared is doing all he can to make me stop including making Aunt Nina's banana pudding (MY FAV!)

Tried not to do a controversial blog, but I am sure I will get some "this is stupid" comments and BRING THEM ON! I Want feedback!!! Good and Bad!

What have you done to be more healthy?

How have you been feeding your kids to make them good healthy eaters?

What are your thoughts on dairy?

Did you know Milk isn't the best source of calcium? Its actually Bok Choy! (Its like spinach but better!)

Thoughts on meat? Red meat? Chicken? Fish? (Dr. Furman points out that fish isn't as healthy as most think- they eat other fish, who eat other fish, who eat other fish etc... Think of all that crap your eating...)

Jared says Hadley won't eat like this once she has a choice- she'll eat "Kid food" meaning mac and cheese, hamburgers and fries etc.

How do you make them LIKE healthy food?

And rewards... Our reward or treat was always some type of food... What can other rewards be to make food not one?

Way to go girl! I will support you! I am always trying to find small ways to make us healthier eaters....since clearly food is what we love :) I definitely know there is lots of research out there & it is hard to know what is right. Good luck! And keep posting any "healthy" ideas you come across.

Want to hear more about this diet, can you drink alcohol??

What have you done to be more healthy? I am constantly trying to eat healthy, it is an uphill battle!

How have you been feeding your kids to make them good healthy eaters? My kids are horrible eaters but continue to try, I have to sneak a lot of things. I make them smoothies almost every morning with Flax Seed , Spinach and all sorts of good stuff!!

Thoughts on meat? Red meat? Chicken? Fish? I love me meat and could limit it but doubt I could never eat meat again.

You will have an easy time until Hadley is 2, until then she should eat anything!!

How do you make them LIKE healthy food? I honestly think a lot of it is hereditary. I am constantly making my kids try things but have made them gag and puke in the meantime. I continue to offer it and they must TRY it and we go from there.

Look forward to hearing all about your journey.
