February Couple Re-TREAT

Jared and I celebrate Val-a-versary. I was very against it at first, but suddenly realized I could get two crappy to decent things or one good one. Sugar taught me two things: its not about presents but celebrating our great life and less is more!

Background: February is a very special month for us. Our first date was valentines weekend. Jared realized he loved me and couldn't live without me the next February and we got married the next February. Our first trip (just the two of us) was to NYC the second February we were together. We went back the next summer for a wedding and just LOVE that city! We planned to go this year for our Val-a-versary. We took Friday and Monday off and were planning to drop at at school Friday am and head to the airport for our 10:30am flight. At 6am I get an email telling us our flight (and all other flights to NYC have been canceled due to the 24 inches of snow) Jared frantically got on the computer and booked us a trip to Chicago! Our flight wasn't scheduled to leave till 8:30 and about 10 we actually left. We checked into the Swissotel (no H... I had fun with that) We checked in to the "o-tell" after midnight and apparently looked rough. The flight was fine, but no snacks or adult beverages. The check-in man bumped us to a corner room. THEN he said, oh wait... I have a better room for you...

This was our view...

From our suite! Living room, a separate bedroom we even had two bathrooms!

I didn't do research for Chicago like I had done for NYC so we didn't know where to go and what to do.

We started with the magnificent mile. it was magnificent!

So we shopped... and shopped and shopped!

Jared was a great sport! He left me try on endless amounts of clothes for two days strait and even helped carry all the bags :)

We rode the "L" stands for elevated train and ate a lot.
We had breakfast (Stuffed french toast) and a cute place in Lincoln Park called Toast. We had dinner at the Chicago Chophouse! No trip would be complete without Chicago style hot dogs and pizza!

It was great sleeping in and napping! We went to second city and escaped participation by the skin of our teeth! We sure did miss this little girl!

She hadn't been sleeping well when we left and Sugar took her to Acute Kids Sunday to find out she had a respiratory virus, pink eye, ear infection that had led to a ruptured eardrum. Once we heard this we got on an earlier flight to come back. She is doing much better now and going to the ENT Monday to get the ear drum checked.
